Rima Maroun - Lebanese Photographer and Performer.


Born in 1983, Rima Maroun is a Lebanese photographer and performer based in Beirut.

After graduating with an MA in photography, she co-founds in 2006 Collectif Kahraba, a cultural association using visual and performing arts as a means of expression.

In 2008, she receives the Anna Lindh Foundation award for dialogue through art and culture and has since then been exhibiting her work throughout Europe and the Middle East (Italy, Hungary, Syria, France, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Montenegro, Lebanon…)

In 2009 her work is part of the Photoquai Biennale in Paris. In 2010, she organizes the European Union photography competition in Lebanon on Climate Change and Environment.

In 2011 she is a selected artist for Meeting Point 6 under the artistic direction of Okwui Enwezor.

Having an active interest in dance, Rima Maroun was an artist in residency at the Paris International City of Arts in 2012 and presented several photography projects in Montpellier Danse Festival (FR) and the French Institute in Lebanon.

In 2013, On Fleeting Grounds, a joint project with Lebanese photographers that Rima initiated in 2010 finally becomes a group exhibition in collaboration with Janine Rubeiz Gallery (LB). She is also part of the collective photo exhibition Open Wounds in The Empty Quarter Gallery (Dubai) and Art Dubai with Janine Rubeiz Gallery.
